TAM, Palestine: Environmental justice through the lens of gender
The Women's Association for Media and Development (TAM) was founded in 2003 by a group of women media professionals and community activists in the West Bank, Palestine. TAM's work is based on the principles of human rights and gender equality, democracy, justice, non-violence, dialogue, and the rejection of all forms of discrimination, as well as the protection of physical and moral freedoms. TAM's mission is to promote a free and democratic society founded on justice and equality, in which women can fully exercise their rights without discrimination.
The CoRe II project
The project aims to strengthen and promote the environmental rights of Palestinians in general, and of women and youth in particular, in order to guarantee equitable access to natural resources, livelihoods, water, and land. It also seeks to enable communities to benefit from these resources without prejudice or discrimination.
To achieve these objectives, the project will focus on strengthening the capacities of beneficiaries through knowledge transfer, access to information, skills development, and the provision of tools and techniques enabling them to improve their economic situation, strengthen their resilience and cope with the denial and violations of their property and resource use rights, particularly by Israel.
Particular attention will be paid to empowering women so they can play a leading role in decision-making processes related to environmental rights. The project will also support their access to leadership positions within relevant bodies and institutions, with the aim of combating gender inequality. The number of direct beneficiaries is 4,800 and the number of indirect beneficiaries is 300,000.
