"Indigenous Populations" Group

Following on from the Catholic Relief Services study "You Wouldn't Let Your Land Die," partners in Latin America and Asia wish to strengthen their collaboration to promote the recognition of the rights of indigenous peoples. The partners STT (Cambodia), Caritas Bangladesh, CIMI (Brazil), and CAAAP (Peru) form the core of this group.

Activities offered

The group will explore one theme per year, with remote exchanges and an exchange visit led by a different partner:

  1. Modes and methods of action for defending land rights: innovations developed by partners, specificities and perspectives. (Ex: mapping, mobile land clinic, advocacy actions, governance, etc.)

  2. Community advocacy on land rights / intellectual property rights / nature rights / forest conservation. Advocacy practices at the local, national and international levels

  3. Raising awareness and changing the dominant population's perspective on marginalized and indigenous populations: innovative actions around arts and culture.

Gender issues and links with the academic world will be integrated in a cross-cutting manner.

Expected results

  • Strengthening knowledge sharing between partners

  • Improving the impact of practices;

  • Establishment of a dynamic of sustainable cooperation and mutual support.
