STT, Cambodia: Empowering communities for territorial justice and sustainable livelihoods

Sahmakum Teang Tnaut (STT) is a local non-governmental organization based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Founded in 2005–2006, it works to support disadvantaged urban communities. Over time, STT has expanded its activities to include community mapping, research, and advocacy, in order to help these communities assert their rights to land and housing. STT's mission is to develop advocacy tools, strengthen the empowerment of poor and vulnerable urban communities, and support them in accessing decent and adequate housing.

CoRe II Project

STT's four-year CoRe II project supports communities in the provinces of Mondulkiri, Koh Kong, and Kampot in securing their land rights and building their resilience to climate change. Through participatory mapping, training, awareness campaigns, and legal and psychological support, the project strengthens community networks, defends territorial rights, and promotes sustainable livelihoods. It also fosters harmonious relationships between communities and their environment, contributing to food security and access to decent incomes. The project directly benefits approximately 3,000 people and indirectly benefits 9,000.
