SPERI, Vietnam: Regional Meeting in Asia
The Social Policy Ecology Research Institute (SPERI) was founded on June 5, 2006, following the merger of three pre-existing organizations:
Towards Ethnic Women (TEW, 1994)
Center for Human Ecology Studies of Highlands (CHESH, 1999)
Center for Indigenous Knowledge Research and Development (CIRD, 2000)
Based in Vietnam, SPERI focuses its activities on securing land rights, land-use planning, and developing farmer field schools. The institute promotes community-based management of natural resources and capacity building for local populations, particularly in mountainous areas.
Project activities
This initiative aims to consolidate a regional dynamic in favor of a just ecological transition (JET) in South and Southeast Asia, initiated during the first phase of the Resilient Communities program. It brings together all the partners in the Asia-Eastern Europe cluster committed to JET issues.
Eight partner organizations from India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia will participate in three regional workshops and several webinars. These forums will help harmonize approaches and enrich the CoRe II strategy in its international dimension, particularly through its thematic and methodological working groups.
The partners involved are : Caritas Bangladesh, KMSS, MASS, BSSS, GAIA, STT, NEADS and SPERI.
