ACLO, Bolivia: Paths of hope through agroecology, culture and climate justice in the territories of southern Bolivia

The Loyola Cultural Action Foundation (ACLO) was created in 1966 with the mission of promoting the holistic development of historically marginalized indigenous and peasant populations. ACLO works towards building a more democratic, inclusive, just, equitable, intercultural, and environmentally responsible society.

Its work is part of a dynamic of close collaboration with Indigenous Peasant Organizations as well as with urban populations living in vulnerable situations. Within this framework, the use and dissemination of Radio ACLO play a crucial strategic role.

The CoRe II project

The CoRe II project aims to promote a just and inclusive ecological transition within Indigenous and peasant communities in the departments of Chuquisaca and Tarija. It strengthens local capacities in agroecology, territorial governance, and the solidarity economy through participatory assessments, training of community promoters, implementation of sustainable practices, influence on public policy, and the development of grassroots communication processes. These actions contribute to activating and consolidating local resilience to climate change. The project directly benefits 750 people and indirectly benefits 2,700 people.

Planned activities

  • Recovery, systematization and documentation of good local practices in agroecological production, common goods management, climate resilience and community governance.

  • Organization of territorial fairs, inter-community meetings and presentations of successful experiences.

  • Production of multimedia documentary series (videos and podcasts) highlighting community experiences in governance and defense of protected areas, with particular attention to the role of women.

  • Research and dissemination of concrete proposals promoting an equitable distribution of roles and co-responsibility between men, women and different generations in the management of common goods.

  • Establishment of schools promoting agroecology and the fair and solidarity economy, in order to strengthen the technical and organizational autonomy of communities.

  • Development and consolidation of short agroecological marketing circuits through local commercial events and innovative forms of sales.

  • Organizing multi-stakeholder forums and dialogues to integrate climate change adaptation and mitigation measures into municipal Integrated Territorial Development Plans.
