MASS, India: Regional Meeting in Asia

Manav Adhikar Seva Samiti (MASS) was founded in 1988 by sociology and anthropology students from Sambalpur University. The organization works alongside indigenous communities in the state of Odisha, India.

Today, MASS operates in more than 120 villages and supports local populations on essential issues such as sustainable management of natural resources, promotion of indigenous knowledge, defense of land rights, strengthening resilience to climate change, environmental protection, and the development of local value chains.

Project activities

This initiative aims to strengthen a regional dynamic in favor of a just ecological transition (JET) in South and Southeast Asia, initiated during the first phase of the Resilient Communities program. It brings together all the partners in the Asia-Eastern Europe cluster committed to JET issues.

Eight partner organizations from India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia will participate in three regional workshops and several webinars. These exchanges will help harmonize approaches and enrich the CoRe II strategy in its international dimension, particularly through its thematic and methodological working groups.

The partners involved are: Caritas Bangladesh, KMSS, SPERI, BSSS, GAIA, STT, NEADS and MASS.
