The article is an interview with Roselita Vitor from the Brazilian Semi-Aris Articulation (ASA).
Some of the key issues discussed Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which was held from 2 to 13 December 2024 in Riyadh as a part of COP-16 were: combating land degradation and desertification: adoption of gender policies, with access to land for women; participation of young people; promotion of agroecology and sustainable food systems; and inclusion of indigenous peoples and local traditional communities.
Although the conference did not result in a binding agreement, the COP did lead to the creation of the Indigenous Peoples Caucus and the Local Communities Caucus.
