In this summary sheet, the teams from the Social Pastoral - Caritas Colombia and the Apostolic Vacariat of Puerto Leguízamo-Solano (communities of Solano and Mayoyoque - Puerto Guzmán, Colombian Amazon) trace their experience of strengthening the capacities of community representatives and facilitators, so that they can define realistic priorities for their communities and carry out their advocacy actions, in particular through a “School of Democracy for Advocacy”.

However, this document identifies seven areas of expertise developed by Social Pastoral Care to achieve this:

• knowing how to design advocacy training

• knowing how to select the participants

• knowing how to perform a quick diagnosis of the community

• knowing how to support the prioritization of realistic actions

• knowing how to adopt a supportive posture

• knowing how to transform community leaders into agents of change

• knowing how to facilitate spaces for citizen participation
