In Colombia’s Amazon region, we face numerous challenges due to the vastness of our territories, difficulties in access, and the

high cost of travel; the lack of basic public services such as electricity and drinking water; the limited presence of government institutions; and the extraction of timber and minerals. For local populations, a major challenge is the constant struggle to achieve decent living conditions in our communities. The establishment of a self-managed savings and credit group aims to address some of the problems faced by these communities. The members of these groups have shared here their experience in developing a savings and credit group and the key lessons they have learned from it.
