Napoleón CHAO REICO and José-Antonio CHAO MONTERO, leaders of the Jericó community, a pioneer in protecting and valuing their forest
In this series of systematizations carried out by CIEDEL with the support of CIEDEL, both program partners, the aim is to compile the lived experiences of communities and leaders who have brought about significant change in their territories or in their lives, and from which important lessons can be learned for working with communities.
Faced with threats such as logging or overexploitation in their territories, the peasant community of Jericó, in the department of Pando, Bolivia, has adopted regulations (PGIBT) for the protection of their territory and the environment. How have community leaders conceived, ensured that the PGIBT was approved and respected by the families in the community?
